The Terminator: SkyNET is a first-person shooter released in 1996 for MS-DOS. Developed and published by Bethesda Softworks, it is a licensed sci-fi title set in the Terminator universe. The game functions as a prequel to the earlier title Future Shock, featuring a narrative set across seven missions that progress from night to day.

In the single-player campaign, the player's objective is to prevent machines from launching a recovered nuclear weapon. Progression is structured through missions divided into various levels, which include locations such as the Cyberdyne building basement and a sinking nuclear submarine. Gameplay involves navigating these interactive environments, engaging in combat, and utilizing vehicles in specific driving and flying segments. Mission briefings are presented through full-motion video, and the technology available is less advanced than in the subsequent game, consistent with the prequel storyline.

The game also includes a multiplayer component supporting up to eight players over a LAN or two via IPX. Multiplayer maps are condensed versions of single-player settings, such as city blocks, shattered freeways, and open valleys, with many offering a choice between dawn and dusk lighting. Vehicles are present in most maps and can be freely entered and exited, unlike in the campaign. An additional option allows players to assume the role of a Terminator, which grants increased durability, slower movement speed, and a distinctive red-tinted heads-up display.
