The Games: Winter Challenge is a sports simulation released in 1991 for MS-DOS. Developed by MindSpan and published by Accolade, Inc., it is an Olympiad title focused on eight winter sports events. The game uses a basic 3D engine to model slopes and tracks, providing a behind-the-view perspective for the player during competitions.

Players control an athlete competing in events including Downhill, Giant Slalom, Luge, Two-Man Bobsled, Ski Jump, Cross Country, Biathlon, and Speed Skating. The primary objective is to achieve the best performance in each discipline, which involves different gameplay systems. In events like Downhill and Bobsled, players must find the fastest trajectories, while Cross Country and Biathlon require careful pacing of the athlete's stamina. Ski Jump relies on precise timing for the takeoff and landing, and Speed Skating uses rapid button inputs to build momentum. Players can select a competitor's face and nationality from sixteen options and adjust the difficulty, which determines the skill level of the computer-controlled opponents.

The game features a Training mode for practicing single events, after which players can retry, view a replay, or exit. In Tournament mode, up to ten participants can be created, with computer athletes filling any empty slots. This mode begins with an opening ceremonies sequence before presenting a tournament screen. Here, icons for the seven events are displayed alongside interface options to check standings, start a new tournament, enter a password to resume a saved tournament, or return to the main menu.
