Surf's Up!: Monster Beach is one of those games that just feels like summer. You pick your favorite Cartoon Network character—I went with the shark dude first—and immediately get tossed into this weirdly cool haunted beach with waves that look like they’re alive. The controls are simple enough: paddle out, catch a wave, then start pulling off flips and spins before wiping out spectacularly (which happens a lot at first).

What I didn’t expect was how much personality the game has. The water shimmers, the monsters lurking in the background actually react when you pull off a sick trick, and the soundtrack’s got this chill-but-spooky vibe. My only gripe? Some of the later challenges get brutal—took me way too many tries to nail that upside-down barrel roll. Still, it’s hard to stay mad when you’re surfing past a giant octopus.

Perfect for killing 10 minutes or an hour, depending on how stubborn you are about high scores.
