About Stryx
Stryx is a side scrolling action game released in 1990 for the MS-DOS platform. It was developed by Psygnosis Limited and published by Psyclapse. The player controls a half robot operative named Stryx, who is tasked with defending Dome City from hostile forces.
The gameplay involves navigating Stryx through a series of side view levels. Progression is linear, moving from one stage to the next. The player guides the character on foot, but also pilots vehicles including hovercrafts and a spherical flying craft. The core action consists of platforming and engaging enemies, with the inclusion of puzzle elements that require solving environmental challenges to advance. Objectives are centered on reaching the end of each level while overcoming obstacles and adversaries.
Levels present varied environments and hazards that the player must traverse. The game structure is divided into distinct stages, each requiring the completion of specific tasks. The player manages Stryx's movements and attacks, utilizing the different vehicles when they become available to access new areas or confront threats. The experience combines straightforward arcade style action with intermittent puzzles that affect the path forward.
