Spirou is a side-scrolling platform game released for MS-DOS in 1996, developed by Infogrames Europe SA and published by Infogrames, Inc. It is based on the Franco-Belgian comic series Spirou et Fantasio. The narrative follows the journalist Spirou, who must rescue the inventor Count of Champignac after he is kidnapped by the antagonist Cyanida during a presentation in New York.

The player controls the character Spirou through a series of over twelve levels, which include environments such as city streets, rooftops, a toy store, a subway system, and a swamp. Basic actions include jumping, ducking, climbing ladders and cliff faces, and running at increased speed when a specific button is held. Progression is linear, with the player navigating obstacles and enemies to reach the end of each stage. In the game's fourth level, Spirou acquires a gun, which becomes a primary tool for combat against Cyanida's robotic minions that appear in greater numbers as the game advances.

The game structure provides the player with three lives and does not offer continues, requiring the player to complete the game within those attempts. A password system is implemented, granting a single password after the player finishes the first half of the game, allowing for a restart from that midpoint. The objective remains consistent throughout: guide Spirou and his pet squirrel Spip through each themed location to ultimately confront Cyanida and secure the Count's freedom.
