Speedball is a futuristic action sports game released in 1988 for the MS-DOS platform. Developed by The Bitmap Brothers and published by Spotlight Software, it presents a top-down view of a sci-fi arena. The game simulates a violent, high-speed sport set within a confined metallic playing field.

The player controls a team of athletes in a rectangular arena known as the Speed Dome. The primary objective is to score goals by propelling a steel ball into the opponent's net. Progression occurs through matches where players can freely move their characters to intercept the ball, pass, and shoot. A core gameplay system involves unregulated physical combat, allowing players to attack opposing team members, including the goalkeeper, to create scoring opportunities. The ball is introduced into play by a mechanical launcher at the center of the arena, which activates at the start of a match and after each goal.

Several mechanical features define the arena's layout and affect gameplay. Two door-sized ball warp tunnels are set into opposite walls; throwing the ball into one causes it to instantly emerge from the other at the same trajectory and velocity. Additionally, four bounce domes are placed in varying configurations for each match. Players can move over these domes, but the ball ricochets off them, adding an unpredictable element to passing and ball movement. There are no rules penalizing violence, making aggressive confrontation a consistent and integral part of the match structure.
