About Speed Haste
Speed Haste is a three-dimensional arcade racing game released in 1997 for the MS-DOS platform. It was developed by NoriaWorks Entertainment and published by WizardWorks Group, Inc. The game presents players with two distinct categories of vehicles: Formula One cars and stock cars modeled after NASCAR vehicles. Each vehicle type possesses unique handling and performance characteristics. The racing is presented from a first-person perspective.
Players control a single vehicle, selecting from the available cars within their chosen category. The primary objective is to win races across a series of circuits. Progression is structured through a championship mode, where players compete on every track with difficulty increasing sequentially. This championship structure is identical for both vehicle types. A key gameplay system involves managing the distinct handling models of the Formula and stock cars, which require different approaches to cornering and acceleration. The game also features a multiplayer component, supporting split-screen play for local competition or network sessions using IPX protocol for races with up to four participants.
