About Spacewrecked: 14 Billion Light Years From Earth
Spacewrecked: 14 Billion Light Years From Earth is a science fiction role-playing game released for MS-DOS in 1991. Developed by Gremlin Graphics Software Limited and published by Celestial Software, it presents a first-person perspective adventure set in a futuristic environment.
The player assumes the role of a survivor on a derelict fleet, tasked with searching twenty individual ships to repair their core systems. Progression involves moving from one ship to the next, with the primary objective being to restore four main computer systems on each vessel. This is achieved by locating coolant in a laboratory, manufacturing flasks in a specialized room, and then carefully delivering the coolant to the four control rooms. Players navigate the ships, managing environmental hazards such as radiation, low oxygen, and poor lighting while engaging in combat with escaped alien specimens and hostile former crew members.
Gameplay systems include exploration and combat, where players walk through the ships fighting encountered threats. A key element involves collecting keys to unlock doors and progress through the environments. Players can also utilize six programmable robots to assist with repair tasks. The control scheme uses a direction pad for movement and an inventory mapping system for managing items and resources throughout the mission.
