About Sonic 3d Blast (prototype 73)

Sonic 3D Blast (Prototype 73) is an early version of the isometric Sonic game developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Sega for the Genesis. It arrived late in the console's life, attempting to translate Sonic's speed into a three dimensional perspective when many players were already looking toward newer systems.

You control Sonic as he runs and jumps across floating, checkerboarded levels to rescue Flickies from robotic enemies. The main goal is to explore each stage screen by screen, defeating badniks to free the birds, then guiding a group of them to the goal ring. Signature mechanics include the isometric perspective, which makes judging jumps more deliberate, and the Flicky management, where you must keep your rescued flock together while avoiding hazards. The pace is slower than traditional Sonic games, with more focus on careful navigation and puzzle like enemy encounters. It feels like a deliberate, sometimes awkward, experiment in changing the series' formula.
