So, Sonic 2 Adventure Edition—it’s basically Sonic 2, but someone went wild with the level designs and added a bunch of new paths, hidden zones, and even a few tweaks to the physics. Feels familiar at first, but then you hit a loop-de-loop that wasn’t there before, or a spring sends you flying somewhere totally unexpected. The chaos emeralds are still a pain to collect, but at least the special stages got a visual upgrade.

If you’ve played the original to death, this mod gives it a fresh coat of paint without losing that classic Genesis feel. Just don’t be surprised when Chemical Plant Zone suddenly throws a new underwater section at you. Still no save feature, though—some things never change.
