Sonic 1 – Code Gray Game

So, Sonic 1 – Code Gray is basically a hacked version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Genesis, but with a darker, grittier twist. The levels are the same classic Green Hill Zone and all that, but everything's got this eerie gray filter over it—like someone sucked the color out of Sonic's world. The music’s been tweaked too, giving it this weird, almost unsettling vibe.
At first, I thought it was just a palette swap, but the physics feel slightly off—like Sonic’s a little heavier, jumps don’t land quite the same. It’s not bad, just… different. If you’ve played the original a million times, this version throws you off just enough to make it interesting again. Not sure I’d call it better, but it’s a fun little trip if you’re into ROM hacks.
Definitely one for the nostalgia crowd who wants to see Sonic in a moodier light.
