Soko-Ban is a puzzle game originally released for MS-DOS in 1987. It was developed by ASCII Corporation and published by Spectrum Holobyte, Inc. The game presents a top-down view of warehouse environments and established a foundational template for many subsequent puzzle titles in the genre.

In the game, the player controls a warehouse worker navigating through a series of grid-based rooms. The primary objective on each level is to push all crates onto their designated target squares. Movement is turn-based, with the character moving one square at a time. Crates can only be pushed, not pulled, and only one crate can be moved per action. This mechanic means that pushing two crates together or into a corner can create an unsolvable situation, requiring the player to restart the level. Progression involves completing increasingly complex warehouse layouts to advance.

The core gameplay revolves around spatial reasoning and forward planning. Players must analyze the arrangement of walls, crates, and targets to determine a viable sequence of pushes. Later stages introduce more intricate puzzles that demand the player to anticipate the consequences of many moves ahead. The challenge stems from the permanent consequences of each push within the confined warehouse space, with no ability to correct mistakes by moving crates backward.
