Sky & Rica is a top-down scrolling shooter released in 1995 for the MS-DOS platform. It was developed by Softmax Co., Ltd. and published by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. The game is set in a world called Astro, where a powerful computer named Lucifer once maintained peace. This order is disrupted when the rebellious Dr. Saradin seizes control of Lucifer and unleashes twisted creations upon the land. The protagonists, a boy named Sky and a girl named Rica, pilot an experimental fighter craft created by Dr. Esiry in an attempt to stop Saradin and restore peace.

Players control either Sky or Rica's fighter craft, navigating through seven distinct stages, each with its own thematic environment. The primary objective is to survive the scrolling levels, defeat waves of enemies, and confront a boss at the end of each stage. The game features a variety of colorful enemy creatures that attack from both the air and the ground, requiring constant movement and precise shooting to avoid their assaults. Progression is linear, with players advancing from one stage to the next upon defeating the stage boss.

Gameplay systems include a power-up system that modifies the default weapon, allowing the craft to fire in two or three directions and increasing its overall firepower. Additionally, players can collect "options," which are orbs that attach to the fighter craft and provide auxiliary fire, assisting in combat. The core loop involves navigating the environment, collecting these power-ups to enhance offensive capabilities, and strategically managing the fighter's position to survive the increasing enemy density and projectile patterns throughout the stages.
