Skull and Crossbones is a side view beat 'em up released for MS-DOS in 1991. Developed by Atari Games Corporation and published by Domark Software Ltd., the game is an arcade style brawler set in a pirate themed world. Players control one of two characters, Red Beard or One Eye, on a quest to reclaim stolen treasure from an evil wizard.

The player progresses through a series of side scrolling levels that include pirate ships, forts, and other environments. Each stage concludes with a boss encounter. The core gameplay involves moving through these areas and engaging numerous enemies such as ninjas and skeletons in combat. The fighting system is modeled on fencing, offering a limited set of offensive moves and a parry mechanic for defense. Defeated enemies drop money, and additional treasure can be acquired by digging at marked spots indicated by an X.

The game supports two player cooperative play, allowing a second person to control the pirate character not selected by the first player. This mode enables both characters to fight together through the same levels. Progression is linear, with the objective in each stage being to defeat all opposition and reach the end boss to advance the narrative of recovering the stolen money.
