About Silk

Silk is an arcade puzzle game released in 1993 for MS-DOS. The game was published by Subsino and presents a side-view perspective. Its core structure is based on drawing lines to reveal hidden images.

The player controls a cursor using arrow keys and the spacebar to draw lines from the edges of the screen inward. The primary objective on each level is to use these drawn lines to section off and reveal a concealed picture, which typically depicts a figure. To complete a level and progress, the player must uncover at least eighty percent of the hidden image. Successfully revealing one hundred percent of the picture triggers a brief animation. The gameplay involves avoiding enemy characters such as spiders and clowns that move across the screen; contact between an enemy and an active line results in the loss of a life. Additional elements include collectible items that can extend the time limit and hazards that reduce it. The screen may occasionally shift to a different background, which can be reverted by collecting specific bonus items.

Progression requires completing each stage within a time limit while managing the threats posed by the enemies, which can increase in size. The game mechanics focus on strategic line drawing to claim territory, avoid obstacles, and collect useful items. The structure consists of multiple discrete levels that must be completed sequentially under these conditions.
