About [seganet] Sonic Eraser (japan)
Sonic Eraser was a Japan exclusive puzzle game for the Sega Genesis, released by Sega in 1991. It arrived during a period when Sega was experimenting with different genres for its mascot, moving beyond the standard platforming action. This title was originally distributed through the SegaNet download service, a precursor to modern digital storefronts.
You control Sonic, who moves block by block across a grid filled with colored orbs. The main objective is to clear each screen by erasing all the orbs, which you do by swapping adjacent orbs to create matches of three or more of the same color. Two key mechanics define the play: you can only swap orbs that are directly next to Sonic, and you must manage a constantly draining time limit that forces quick decisions. The game's pacing is relentless, with later stages introducing complex patterns that demand foresight. It feels like a race against the clock where every move counts.
