Rescue Rover is a puzzle solving game released in 1991 for the MS-Dos platform. It was developed by id Software and published by Softdisk Publishing. The game presents its environments from a top down perspective, placing the player in the role of an owner whose dog has been taken by hostile robots.

The player controls the owner character, navigating through a series of discrete levels with the primary objective of locating and safely reaching the captured dog, Rover. Progression is linear, with each of the thirty levels presenting a self contained puzzle room that must be solved to advance. Core gameplay involves moving through these environments while manipulating objects and avoiding or eliminating robotic enemies. Players must often use strategic placement of items or timed movements to bypass obstacles and hazards. The challenge comes from figuring out the specific sequence of actions required to clear a path to the exit where the dog is held, while managing threats from the patrolling robots.
