Project-X is a side-view scrolling shooter released in 1994 for MS-DOS. Developed by Team 17 Software Limited and published by Psygnosis Limited, the game is a science fiction shoot 'em up featuring six distinct levels of horizontal action.

The player controls a spacecraft through a series of side-scrolling stages, each with a unique setting and a final boss encounter. Progression involves navigating attack waves from various angles while collecting blue power-up tokens dropped by certain enemies. These tokens are used to select and upgrade from several weapon systems, including front-firing guns, plasma, magma, and laser beams, as well as options for speed boosts, side shots, homing missiles, a temporary super-destructive blast, and a short period of invulnerability. The game structure allows players to resume from the level they reached upon defeat, up to the third stage.

A notable feature is the inclusion of a software-based auto-fire function, designed to make the game more accessible for keyboard play on emulators. The primary objectives are to survive the enemy patterns, manage weapon selections through collected tokens, and defeat the boss at the conclusion of each horizontally scrolling level.
