Powerslave is a first-person shooter released in 1996 for MS-DOS. It was developed by Lobotomy Software and published by Playmates Interactive Entertainment. The game is set in a fictional version of ancient Egypt, where the player investigates alien activity in the city of Karnak.

The player controls a special forces operative whose mission is to infiltrate Karnak and stop an alien invasion. The primary objective is to fight through a series of levels, eliminating hostile creatures and uncovering the source of the threat. Progression often involves finding keys to unlock doors and navigating interconnected environments. The gameplay focuses on combat using an arsenal of weapons, alongside exploration of temples, tombs, and other Egyptian-themed locations. The structure is linear, with players advancing through distinct stages of increasing difficulty.

In the original MS-DOS version, the experience follows conventional first-person shooter design for its time. Players collect items and ammunition while engaging enemies in corridor and room based layouts. The console versions and a later remaster, known as Powerslave EX, introduced additional mechanics. These include obtaining permanent artifacts that grant new abilities, such as breathing underwater or walking on lava. These abilities allow access to previously blocked areas, creating a more interconnected world map and altering the pace of exploration alongside the core shooting action.
