About Power Drift
Power Drift is an arcade-style racing game released in 1990 for the MS-DOS platform. Developed by SEGA Enterprises Ltd. and published by Activision Publishing, Inc., the game presents a behind-view perspective of high-speed dune buggy racing across a variety of track environments.
Players control one of twelve selectable drivers, ranging from businesspeople to characters with distinctive hairstyles, and compete in races across five different tracks. Each track is divided into five sequential stages, with settings that include cityscapes, desert landscapes, and courses built over water. The primary objective is to finish each race in third place or higher to advance to the next stage. The buggies feature a simple two-gear system, and players must maintain high speed while avoiding collisions with other vehicles or roadside obstacles, as crashes will significantly reduce momentum.
Gameplay focuses on fast-paced arcade handling and navigating the twisting, multi-part tracks. Successfully completing all five stages of a track unlocks a bonus level. The structure involves progressing through each track's stages sequentially, with the constant requirement to achieve a podium finish to continue.
