About Pantufa The Cat (sonic 1 Hack)
Pantufa the Cat is a hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis, also known as the Mega Drive. It was created by a developer known as Krzysiu, reworking the familiar 1991 platformer with a new feline protagonist. This modification fits right into the era of fan-made ROM hacks that expanded the Genesis library with personalized characters and altered level designs.
You control Pantufa, a black cat who runs, jumps, and spins through the same zones as Sonic, but with a different visual presence. The main goal is to race through each act, defeat Dr. Robotnik, and collect Chaos Emeralds. Signature mechanics include the spin dash for a quick start and the loop-de-loops and corkscrews that define the level geometry. The pacing is fast, demanding quick reflexes to avoid spikes and enemies, and the difficulty mirrors the original game, which can be punishing for new players.
