Oil Cap is a puzzle solving game released in 1992 for the MS-DOS platform. It was developed by Soleau Software and presents a top-down perspective on its playing field. The game belongs to the puzzle genre, focusing on the strategic management of a pipeline system.

The player controls the placement of various pipe segments on a grid. The primary objective is to construct a continuous path for oil to flow, which begins moving after a timer counts down. Points are earned based on the total distance the oil travels through the assembled pipeline. Gameplay involves arranging oddly shaped pipe pieces, and players can place new segments over old, discarded ones, though this replacement is not instantaneous. The flow continues until the oil reaches a dead end, at which point the round concludes. Unused pipe segments remaining on the grid then deduct from the player's score.

Progression is structured across levels, each requiring a minimum score to advance. Later levels introduce increased complexity, such as holes appearing in the grid that cannot hold pipes. Special pipe segments occasionally appear at random; incorporating these into the pipeline grants bonus points. Some stages also feature a specific ending point that the oil must reach to complete the level successfully. The core challenge lies in planning efficient routes under time pressure to maximize the oil's travel distance while minimizing leftover pieces.
