About Nomad
Nomad is a science fiction space simulation game released in 1993 for MS-DOS. Developed by Intense! Interactive and published by GameTek, Inc., the game presents a futuristic narrative from a first-person perspective. Players assume the role of a human astronaut whose mission goes awry, leading to involvement in a larger galactic conflict.
The player controls a starship, navigating through a game world that contains hundreds of planets. A primary objective is to assist the galactic Alliance in its war against the mechanized Korok race. Progression is structured around story-driven missions, which involve scripted conversations with characters from eleven different alien races and gathering information to advance the plot. The gameplay integrates exploration of planetary systems with these narrative elements.
Central to the experience is the customization of the player's ship. Various systems can be modified and upgraded, including weapons like missiles, shield generators, engines, and specialized equipment such as scanners and jamming devices. This customization allows players to tailor their vessel for different challenges encountered during the campaign, which focuses on the ongoing struggle between the Alliance and the Korok.
