NAM is a first-person shooter released in 1998 for MS-DOS. The game was developed by TNT Team and published by GT Interactive Software Corp. It is set during the Vietnam War, placing players in the role of a United States Marine Corps sergeant operating behind enemy lines in 1966.

The player controls Sergeant Alan "The Bear" Westmoreland, a soldier known for his use of stimulants to enhance his endurance during high-risk missions. The primary objective is to survive and complete various missions in hostile territory, often with minimal support. Gameplay involves navigating through environments filled with threats such as enemy infantry, snipers, tanks, and air strikes. Players must also watch for hazards like anti-personnel mines, which can be detected using a mine detector. While occasional allied soldiers provide assistance, the sergeant largely operates independently, engaging in firefights and overcoming ambushes to progress through the mission-based structure.

In addition to the single-player campaign, NAM includes a multiplayer component. This mode offers 19 different levels and supports various game types, including Gruntmatch, Capture the Flag, and Fireteam. In these matches, each participant can select a specific soldier class before being deployed on team-based or competitive objectives. The multiplayer missions provide a separate set of combat scenarios from the main campaign, focusing on player versus player engagements and tactical teamwork.
