About Mine Bombers

Mine Bombers is a top-down action game released in 1996 for MS-DOS and published by Skitso Productions. The game features both a single-player campaign and a competitive multiplayer mode, all viewed from an overhead perspective. It also includes a built-in map editor for creating custom levels.

In the single-player mode, the player controls a character tasked with navigating through fifteen distinct levels, each populated with monsters. Starting each stage in the upper left corner, the primary objective is to locate an exit door that leads to the next area. The exit's position is randomized between play sessions and concealed by a fog of war that obscures unexplored parts of the map. The player has a limited number of lives to complete the journey, and high scores are recorded in a hall of fame based on how far they progress. The multiplayer mode supports one to four players, who begin at separate corners of a shared arena. The goal is to collect treasures scattered across the level within a time limit, while also having the option to attack other players. Eliminating an opponent awards a significant sum of in-game cash. A round concludes when the timer expires, all treasures are gathered, or only one player remains alive.

Progression in multiplayer involves a cycle of completing rounds and then visiting a shop between levels to purchase additional bombs, which are a key tool for both combat and exploration. After all scheduled rounds are finished, the overall winner is determined by who has accumulated the most cash or secured the most individual round victories. The map editor allows players to design their own layouts for use in these modes, adding to the game's variety.
