Metal Mutant is a science fiction action platformer released for MS-DOS in 1991. Developed and published by Silmarils, the game is viewed from a side perspective. Players control a robotic character sent to the planet Kronox with the objective of locating and destroying a rogue computer system known as AROD 7.

The player directs the Metal Mutant through a series of levels, each composed of discrete, interconnected screens rather than a continuously scrolling environment. Progression involves navigating these screens, overcoming environmental obstacles, and engaging with various enemies and boss characters. A central gameplay system is the robot's ability to transform between three distinct forms: a humanoid, a dinosaur, and a tank. Each form possesses unique capabilities, such as the humanoid's jumping skill or the tank's missile weapon, requiring the player to switch forms strategically to bypass specific barriers and defeat certain foes.

Throughout the mission, players can discover upgrade items that grant the Metal Mutant additional abilities. The game also features recharge stations where the character can restore its health.
