About Lost Secret Of The Rainforest
Lost Secret of the Rainforest is a graphic adventure game with educational and puzzle elements, released in 1993 for MS-DOS. It was developed and published by Sierra On-Line, Inc. This title serves as a sequel to EcoQuest: The Search for Cetus, continuing in a similar third-person presentation and genre style.
Players control Adam Greene, a boy who travels with his ecologist father to South America. Their goal is to contact a native tribe called the Grove People by journeying up the Amazon River. After becoming separated, Adam must explore the rainforest alone. His objectives involve uncovering the mystery of the Forest Heart and locating a fabled lost City of Gold, all in an effort to find a remedy for the tribe. Progression follows a traditional adventure game structure where interacting with the environment and solving puzzles advances the narrative.
The game utilizes an icon-based interface for player actions. A key gameplay system is the Ecorder, a device Adam uses to document and learn about the various plants and animals he encounters, integrating educational content about ecology. As with its predecessor, the design prevents players from reaching unwinnable states or causing the player character to die, allowing the story to proceed without permanent failure. The experience combines exploration of the rainforest setting with inventory-based puzzles and informational discovery.
