HacX is a first-person shooter released for MS-DOS in 1997, developed and published by Banjo Software. The game follows Danny Evanger, a skilled hacker imprisoned after a failed intrusion into the biotechnology firm Genemp. He is later recruited by a government agent to investigate a national crisis linked to a consortium of technology corporations, utilizing both his hacking expertise and his enhanced physical conditioning.

Players control Danny Evanger through a series of levels, with the core objective being to infiltrate corporate facilities and secure evidence. Progression involves navigating complex environments, defeating hostile entities, and locating key items such as access cards to advance. The gameplay structure and core mechanics are derived from the Doom II engine, featuring real-time movement and combat. However, the levels exhibit a greater emphasis on environmental detail and interactivity, including destructible objects. A notable addition is the inclusion of "cyberspace" levels, accessed via an implanted device, which serve as transitional hubs between locations and introduce unique navigational challenges like invisible platforms and exclusive enemy types.

The game features entirely original assets, including textures, character sprites, sound effects, and music, distinguishing it from its engine's original content. While many weapons and power-ups are functionally similar to those in earlier Doom titles, they possess different names and visual designs. Conversely, most enemy characters exhibit significant alterations in their behavioral patterns and combat capabilities, making them distinct from their counterparts in the foundational games.
