About Great Courts 2
Great Courts 2 is a tennis simulation game released in 1991 for the MS-DOS platform. Developed and published by Blue Byte Software GmbH, it serves as a sequel to the original Great Courts. The game presents its matches from a third-person perspective, placing players into a structured tennis career.
Players begin by creating a custom athlete, allocating points to define initial attributes such as speed, forehand, and backhand. These core skills can be improved by winning matches during the career. Progression is centered around entering various tournaments, including a full APT circuit and the Davis Cup, with successful performances earning prize money. The game supports singles and doubles matches, and it also offers a unique mode where one player can compete against two opponents.
Beyond tournament play, a dedicated training mode allows for practice against a programmable ball machine, which can be configured to deliver specific shot types for targeted skill development. Players can also compete against a friend in this mode. The overall structure provides a focus on managing a player's development through match performance and specialized practice sessions.
