About Fire Power
Fire Power is a top-down action game released in 1988 for MS-DOS computers. It was developed by Silent Software and published by MicroIllusions. The game presents a competitive military conflict viewed from an overhead perspective.
Players control a tank with the objective of destroying the opposing fortress. Gameplay involves navigating a battlefield to assault the enemy base while defending one's own. Primary actions include firing the tank's main cannon at enemy tanks, helicopters, and structures. The game also features infantry units that can be encountered on the terrain. Progression is structured around direct confrontations, with the core challenge being to penetrate the opponent's defenses and achieve a decisive victory.
A central feature of Fire Power is its emphasis on two-player competition. The game supports head-to-head play through several methods, including a split-screen mode for shared use of one computer. It also offers connectivity options for players using separate systems, such as modem or direct null modem cable connections. This design facilitates direct tactical rivalry as each player maneuvers and attacks in real time.
