Before each mission begins, the player must select one of three available ships and purchase weapons and ammunition using limited funds earned from previous missions, with choices constrained by a weight limit. During missions, the gameplay involves navigating upward through waves of enemies and environmental hazards, such as magnetic disturbances that affect the ship's handling. The player can switch between equipped weapons in real time and can fire in up to eight different directions depending on the armament selected.

Progression is mission-based, with success dependent on surviving enemy assaults and managing resources between sorties. The core loop involves preparing a ship loadout, engaging in direct combat against all hostile targets, and adapting to various stage obstacles.
