Eye of the Beholder II: The Legend of Darkmoon is a first-person role-playing game released for MS-DOS in 1991. Developed by Westwood Associates and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc., it is a dungeon crawler based on the second edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules. The game continues the story of the Heroes of Waterdeep, who are summoned by the Archmage Khelben to investigate mysterious disappearances and graves near the Temple Darkmoon.

Players control a party of four adventurers, which can be imported from the first game or newly created from six available classes: Fighter, Ranger, Paladin, Cleric, Mage, and Thief. The primary objective is to explore the Temple Darkmoon and its surroundings to uncover the source of the evil. Gameplay involves navigating pseudo-3D, maze-like environments in real time, with the party moving as a single unit. Players engage in real-time combat against monsters, solve environmental puzzles, and manage character progression, including gaining levels and learning new spells.

The adventure is largely confined to the temple complex, which includes catacombs, upper levels, and three distinct towers. Once inside, players can roam freely between these interconnected locations. The game structure focuses on exploration and combat within these confined spaces, featuring more illustrated non-player character encounters and story scenes than its predecessor. Progression requires overcoming tougher monsters and solving multiple puzzles to advance through the temple's areas.
