EGA Trek is a space flight simulation game released in 1992 for MS-DOS. Developed by Arcanum Computing, it is set in a science fiction universe where the player commands a starship. The game presents its universe as a series of interconnected sectors for navigation and combat.

The player controls a starship, navigating across an 8x8 grid that represents a sector of space. Movement is managed through impulse engines for travel within a sector and warp engines for jumping to new sectors. The primary objectives involve exploring these sectors, which contain planets, starbases, and various celestial objects. Players use onboard scanners to assess threats and a viewscreen window that provides a graphical representation of nearby objects. Gameplay systems include managing ship resources, engaging in combat with lasers and torpedoes, and beaming down to discovered planets for exploration. Progression is structured around traveling from sector to sector while dealing with immediate environmental hazards and enemies.

Players encounter two main enemy factions: the Mongol, who field armed battle cruisers of varying strength, and the Vandal, who operate a single type of ship capable of cloaking to avoid sensors. The ship can sustain damage during encounters, leading to system failures and depletion of reserve power and life support. Sustaining critical damage or being unable to reach a starbase for repairs results in the loss of the crew and mission failure. Success is achieved by eliminating all hostile Mongol and Vandal fleets across the galaxy. The game also incorporates secondary goals, offering bonuses for discoveries, rescues, and preserving the lives of crew members.
