About Doraemon - Aruke Aruke Labyrinth (japan)
I picked up Doraemon: Aruke Aruke Labyrinth for the Game Boy Color back when it was new, a title from Epoch that came out in Japan. It was part of that wave of games based on popular anime, designed to run on the pocket friendly hardware of its time. You don't see many of these specific titles released elsewhere, so it always felt like a curious find.
You control Nobita, navigating through a multi floor maze viewed from above. The goal is to find Doraemon, who is trapped somewhere in the labyrinth. You explore screen by screen, pushing blocks to clear paths and avoid or outsmart the various enemies that patrol the corridors. The game is methodical, more about planning your route than quick reflexes, and the maze layouts can get quite complex. It feels like a quiet, thoughtful puzzle box where every correct turn brings a small sense of relief.
