About Don’t Go Alone
Don't Go Alone is a horror role-playing game released in 1989 for the MS-DOS platform. It was developed by Sterling Silver Software and published by Accolade, Inc. The game presents its environments from a first-person perspective, placing players inside a large, haunted house setting.
Players begin by assembling a team, selecting from a roster of sixteen different paranormal characters to form their investigative party. The core objective is to explore the expansive mansion, uncovering its secrets by navigating its many rooms and corridors. Progression is achieved through a combination of combat encounters and puzzle-solving, with the game featuring over one hundred distinct supernatural adversaries to confront. An integrated automap system assists players in tracking their location within the complex layout of the house, helping to orient exploration through its interconnected spaces.
The gameplay involves methodically searching the environment, engaging hostile entities, and interacting with objects to solve various puzzles. These activities are central to advancing the narrative and revealing the mysteries contained within the haunted location. The structure is non-linear, encouraging thorough investigation of the house's numerous areas as the party works to piece together the story through exploration and interaction.
