D/Generation is a science fiction action puzzle game released in 1991 for MS-DOS. The game was published by Mindscape International Ltd. and presents its world from a fixed isometric, or bird's-eye, perspective. The player assumes the role of a courier trapped inside the Genoq Biolabs building in Singapore after a catastrophic security failure and bioweapon outbreak.

The core objective is to ascend ten floors of the facility to deliver a vital package and uncover the cause of the disaster. Progression is structured room by room, with each floor comprising a series of interconnected, maze-like spaces. The player must navigate environmental hazards from the malfunctioning security system, including automated turrets, laser fences, and electrified floors. A primary gameplay loop involves eliminating all genetically engineered creatures in a room and sealing their entry vents before moving forward. The player is equipped with a laser gun featuring unlimited ammunition; its beams can ricochet off walls, activate distant switches, and travel through teleporters, integrating combat with environmental puzzle solving.

Additional systems involve resource management and interaction with the setting. Keycards, computers, and switches are used to bypass locked doors and other obstacles. Survivors are found throughout the building and can be rescued by clearing their room of threats and escorting them to safety, which rewards the player with an extra life. Items such as bombs provide alternative solutions by destroying certain barriers and hazards. The game maintains a limited life count, with failure resetting progress to the start of the current room or, if no lives remain, to the beginning of the entire floor. Progress can be saved, though loading a save returns the player to the floor's starting point.
