About Colorado
Colorado is a Western-themed adventure game released in 1990 for MS-DOS computers. It was developed and published by Silmarils. The game presents its story and environments from a third-person perspective, with players able to select between EGA and VGA graphical modes at launch.
The player controls a lone trapper who becomes involved in a quest after a chance encounter on the South Platte River. The primary objective is to locate a fabled mine, navigating a landscape filled with natural hazards and hostile groups. Gameplay involves a combination of action and exploration, with the trapper using a rifle, a hatchet, and a knife for combat. Beyond fighting, activities include traversing wilderness areas, jumping over obstacles, piloting a canoe, climbing, and finding items for trade. The game structures progression through these interconnected tasks across various environments.
The game features an automatic save system that records the player's location at certain points, though manual saving is not available. Control inputs are documented in the included manual. Audio consists of limited music and sound effects. The game's interface and text are provided in both English and German language options.
