Chex Quest is a first-person shooter released in 1996 for MS-DOS. Developed by Digital Cafe and published by Ralston-Purina, the game is a licensed title set in a science fiction universe. Players take on the role of a square-shaped protagonist tasked with defending the planet Bazoik from an invasion of alien creatures known as Flemoids.

The player navigates through a series of levels from a first-person perspective, with the objective of eliminating the green, mucous-like Flemoids. Initial weaponry includes a Bootspoon, which can later be upgraded to a Super Bootspork, and a Zorcher that uses Zorch energy to defeat enemies. Progression involves exploring environments, clearing areas of Flemoids, and occasionally solving simple spatial puzzles to advance. The player can collect armor in the form of Chex kibble to protect against enemy attacks, which consist of being covered in mucous rather than sustaining traditional damage. Health is restored by collecting virtual food items like bowls of fruit or vegetables, with a complete breakfast providing a full health boost.

The game structures its challenge around managing health and ammunition while engaging enemies across distinct levels. Defeated Flemoids are transported away with Zorch energy instead of being violently dispatched, aligning with the game's non-violent premise. The experience is characterized by straightforward exploration and combat, with upgrades offering incremental improvements to the player's capabilities. Visual and audio cues, such as distinct sounds for enemy encounters, provide feedback during play without depicting conventional combat violence.
