In the game, the player assumes the role of a respondent to a classified advertisement, seeking to become the assistant to the eccentric Dr. Brain. The primary objective is to progress through the castle by solving a series of puzzles that act as obstacles. Gameplay is structured around exploring hallways and rooms, with progression gated by solving the puzzles in each area. Players interact with the environment using a point-and-click interface, switching between a hand icon to manipulate objects and an eye icon to examine them for information or clues. The puzzles themselves cover a wide range of subjects including mathematics, logic, cryptograms, and astronomy, and are interspersed with unique segments such as navigating elevator mazes and assembling jigsaw puzzles that transform into new pathways.

The game offers three selectable difficulty levels which can be adjusted at any time. A hint system is integrated through Hint Coins, which are earned by solving puzzles and can be spent to receive assistance on more challenging puzzles. Interaction with non-puzzle elements in the environment often triggers humorous descriptions. The structure leads the player through increasingly complex challenges, culminating in a final test to secure the assistant position.
