About Bluppo
Bluppo is a one to two player arcade game released for MS-DOS in 1997. Developed and published by Webfoot Technologies, Inc., the game combines arcade action with puzzle solving elements. Players view the action from a side perspective as they control the main character, Bluppo, a chef who must collect a large number of rare fish to fulfill a recipe and earn a restaurant.
The player controls Bluppo, who is equipped with scuba gear, as he moves through underground environments. The primary objective on each level is to gather a specific quantity of fish shown at the bottom of the screen and then reach an exit gate. The game world consists of pockets of water containing fish, surrounded by materials like earth and stone. Bluppo can dig through soft earth but cannot pass through stone, though certain stones can be destroyed using bombs. Progression involves navigating these environments while managing a limited oxygen supply, which acts as a timer for each puzzle.
Gameplay involves avoiding various hazards such as falling rocks, bombs, explosive fish, and sharks. Some friendly fish can assist Bluppo by consuming enemies when possible. Players can also find additional oxygen tanks in some levels to extend their available time. The game includes sixty single player levels and sixty levels designed for two players. It provides six slots for saving progress and supports Soundblaster audio hardware.
