Baryon is a vertical scrolling shooter released in 1995 for the MS-DOS platform. Developed by ACRO Studio and published by The Game Factory, it is an arcade-style game presented from a top-down perspective.

The player controls one of two selectable ships, each equipped with a distinct primary weapon. The core objective is to navigate through scrolling stages, destroying waves of varied enemy craft while avoiding collisions and enemy fire. Progression is linear and level-based, with gameplay focusing on real-time combat and evasion. Key systems include collecting power-ups to upgrade weapons, such as switching between homing and more powerful standard missiles, and using limited-use defensive items like bombs and a protective shield.

The shareware version of the game contains a single level, while the full registered version includes additional stages that introduce more enemy types. The game engine is noted for its smooth graphical presentation, and the experience is accompanied by a short digital soundtrack.
