About Baal
Baal is a side-view shoot 'em up game released in 1989 for the MS-DOS platform. Developed by Psygnosis Limited and published by Psyclapse, it is set in a science fiction and futuristic universe. The game places the player in the role of a character known as the Time Warrior.
The player controls the Time Warrior, who is sent into a hostile, hellish dimension. The primary objective is to recover the stolen components of a powerful device called the War Machine, which has been taken by the antagonist Baal. Progression is structured through distinct levels, each presenting scrolling environments filled with enemy forces and obstacles. Core gameplay involves navigating these side-view stages, using a ship or character to fire upon continuous waves of adversaries while avoiding their projectiles and environmental hazards. The player must engage in direct combat to clear a path forward, and the challenge typically escalates with more complex enemy patterns and boss encounters as the mission advances.
