Advanced Destroyer Simulator is a naval simulation game released in 1990 for the MS-DOS platform. Developed and published by Futura, the game focuses on World War II era naval combat. Players assume command of the H.M.S. Onslaught, a British O-class destroyer, operating independently without a larger fleet campaign structure.

The game is organized into mission-based scenarios, with three primary theaters of operation in the full version. These include the Mediterranean around Sicily, the English Channel, and the North Sea coast of Norway. Each area contains a set of five missions with objectives such as patrol duties, escorting convoys, hunting submarines, and engaging enemy warships. An additional open ended mode is available in each scenario, allowing for free exploration and combat without specific goals. Progression is handled by completing these individual assignments, which often operate under time constraints.

Players control the destroyer from a first person perspective in real time, using an overhead map for navigation. Primary gameplay involves managing the ship's armament, which includes three cannon turrets and four torpedo tubes per side. Combat consists of close range engagements using these weapons against enemy vessels like freighters, torpedo boats, destroyers, and cruisers. The sonar system is used to detect and track submarines, which can only be attacked when they surface. The simulation also includes elements of logistics, as players may need to dock at allied ports during missions to repair damage, refuel, and replenish ammunition. In certain areas, the ship can come under attack from Stuka dive bombers, which must be engaged with the onboard anti aircraft cannons.
