You control a team of characters, switching between them to use their unique abilities. The main goal is to stop Plankton, which involves moving through different levels, solving environmental puzzles, and fighting off his various robots and slime monsters. The gameplay is built around exploring areas screen by screen, collecting items to progress, and engaging in simple combat.
