I first played Gumball Games: Remote Fu on the Classic Games on Mobile service, a collection that brought a bunch of older titles to phones. It was developed by Cartoon Network, I believe, and it fit right in with the kind of quick, cartoonish games we played in that era. You step into the shoes of Gumball and Darwin, and the whole premise is their living room war over the television remote.

You control one of the brothers, running through the house and using a variety of improvised weapons to knock the remote out of the other's hands. The main goal is simply to be the one holding the remote when the timer runs out. The signature mechanics are the screen by screen exploration of different rooms, like the kitchen or the hallway, and the combat which involves picking up items to throw, from toys to food. It's a fast paced, chaotic brawler where you're constantly dodging attacks and scrambling for a better weapon. Playing it feels like being dropped into a frantic, three minute cartoon episode.
